Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Kit

Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing

At SLS, we understand that a safer workforce means a stronger business. The use of drugs and alcohol can have serious consequences to workplaces, particularly in safety-critical industries where machinery is used and employee safety is vital. Any resulting failings can also impact productivity and cause long lasting reputational damage to your business. In short, ensuring a substance-free workplace protects your people and your bottom line.

When we can support

No matter the circumstances, we have workplace testing solutions that can help:

Our toxicology laboratory is a testing laboratory (No. 2144) providing ISO/IEC 17025:2017 UKAS accredited workplace drug and alcohol tests; and is RISQS approved, under the Achilles Rail Industry Supplier Scheme, with supplier number 3091.

Ongoing or periodic monitoring

Any employee who has come forward and admits to having a drug and/or alcohol problem may be regularly tested over a set period of time.

To support this process, we offer devices to monitor abstinence: DrugPatch and an alcohol breathalyser.

DrugPatch is a discreet patch applied to the outer upper arm that continually monitors sweat for the use of drugs whereas our breathalysers are used by the donor at periodic times to test for alcohol consumption.

Both devices are best used as part of a bespoke ongoing monitoring programme, created by you and your account manager to ensure it suits all parties involved.

FAQs

Workplace drug testing and workplace alcohol testing provides employers with a reliable method to identify substance misuse among employees and job applicants. Substance tests detect the presence of controlled substances/illicit drugs or alcohol that may impair judgement, compromise behaviour, and reduce workplace performance.

By implementing a robust testing programme, organisations can proactively manage safety risks, protect staff and the public, and uphold operational standards and reputation.

All businesses can benefit from drug and alcohol testing solutions but screening protocols are especially beneficial in industries where safety, compliance, and public trust are critical. Here are the sectors that most commonly test:

  1. Construction & Engineering
  2. Transportation & Logistics
  3. Healthcare & Social Care
  4. Manufacturing & Warehousing
  5. Utilities & Energy
  6. Education & Childcare
  7. Public Sector & Emergency Services
  8. Finance & Corporate Services

We offer pre-employment, random, for-cause, post-incident, and return-to-work testing. Types of tests include urine, saliva, hair, and breath alcohol testing. All testing is conducted in accordance with UK legislation and industry standards, ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and legal defensibility.

We provide comprehensive support for workplace health care and substance testing programmes, including policy development, staff training, and ongoing compliance guidance. Our services cover drug and alcohol testing, ensuring accurate test results and legally sound procedures that help protect your organisation and promote a safer working environment.
